GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Beginning the final week of the regular season, the No. 20 ranked Texas A&M University-Commerce women's golf team is 14^th place after Friday's round at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic at the Palm Valley Golf Club.
 
"The course was really getable, and we just didn't capitalize on our birdie opportunities," said coach Lise Malherbe. "Tomorrow, we need to make some more putts and take advantage of the shorter holes. We need to post a good score and just see where that puts us."
 
The Lions accumulated a team score of 307 on Friday in the 28-team tournament. Sophie-Charlott Hempel (Pirmasens, Germany) and Inma Ortiz Prieto (Huelva, Spain) carded rounds of 75 to tie for 28^th place.
 
Karlee Nichols (San Antonio – Smithson Valley) shot a 78 to tie for 62^nd place. Sarah Wongsinth (Udon Thani, Thailand) is in tie for 74^th place with a first round score of 79. Michelle Becker (San Antonio – Reagan) shot an 81 to tie for 96^th place. There are 146 golfers at the tournament.
 
The teams close out the tournament on Saturday, with the Lions' first golfer teeing off at 11:50 a.m. mountain standard time.
