COMMERCE – Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball guard Jordyn Newsome had been named as the Under Armour Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
Newsome (Irving – MacArthur) averaged 21 points per game in the two wins for the Lions last week. She scored 24 in her Lion debut against LeTourneau and added 18 against UNT-Dallas. She also totaled six assists, while shooting 11 for 22 from the distance.
 
The Lions are on the road this week to play at New Mexico on Wednesday at 7 p.m. mountain time and Texas Tech on Friday at 6 p.m.
