Sanchez and Stranda selected as Under Armour Student-Athletes of the Week

COMMERCE – Texas A&M University-Commerce student-athletes Henriette Stranda and Julia Sanchez have been picked as the Under Armour Student-Athletes of the Week.

Stranda (Kraakstad, Norway) was named to the All-Southland Conference Tournament team for the women's golf team after finishing tied for third at the Southland Conference Championships, which is the best finish in her collegiate career and for the Lions in their first season in NCAA Division I.

Sanchez (The Kinkaid School) allowed just two earned runs in 19.0 innings pitched, which included two complete game shutouts, highlighted by a no-hitter against UIW on Friday. In the conference series against UIW, she threw two complete-game shutouts in a pair of 1-0 wins for A&M-Commerce, resulting in the Lions winning their first conference series.

Julia Sanchez UA of the Week

The Lion women's golf team concluded its season with a 5^th place finish at the conference championships last week, while the Lion softball team hosts Northwestern State on Friday and Saturday in the final home series of the season.

The Under Armour Student-Athlete of the Week is awarded by Lion Athletics each week during the academic year.
