COMMERCE – Battling inclement all day on Saturday, the Texas A&M University-Commerce softball team fell 14-1 in five innings to the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions at the John Cain Family Field.
 
The series finale between the Lions and the Lady Lions began as scheduled on Saturday afternoon, but a lightning delay of 7 hours and 40 minutes, followed, while the game was in the bottom of the second. The game resumed on Saturday night with Southeastern taking the win for the series sweep.
 
In the first, SLU plated four, adding one more in the second, and after the delay, scoring nine in the fifth, with seven of the nine runs in the inning coming following an A&M-Commerce fielding error.
 
Bailey Krolczyk went 4 for 4 with two RBIs in the game, while Maria Detillier was 2 for 4. Both Audrey Greely and Cam Goodman went 2 for 3 each as well. SLU had 15 hits in the game.
 
The lone run for A&M-Commerce in the series came in the bottom of the first. Tehya Pitts (Denton – Guyer) hit an infield single to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Isabella Arzola (Chino, Calif.). Pitts then stole third and came around to score on a bunt single by Charlie Anger (Lubbock – Cooper).
 
In the bottom of the second, A&M-Commerce had runners at the corners with no outs. After a flyout, the weather delay followed. Pitts resumed the game with an infield single to load the bases with one out, but the Lions did not plate any runs in the inning and did not have a baserunner the rest of the game.
 
Cera Blanchard got the win for the Lady Lions in the circle, tossing four innings and allowing one earned run. Maddie Muller (Frisco – Centennial) got the loss for the Lions, she allowed four earned runs in 0.2 innings. A&M-Commerce used four pitchers in the five-inning game.
 
A&M-Commerce is 5-25 on the season and 0-6 in Southland Conference play, while Southeastern is 21-6 overall and 5-1 in conference action. SLU is also now 6-0 all-time against A&M-Commerce.
