COMMERCE – Texas A&M University-Commerce athletics department continued its excellence in the classroom during the spring 2024 semester, posting a 3.07 term grade point average.
The athletic department holds a cumulative GPA of 3.14 with all but two programs holding a cumulative grade point average of a 3.00 or above and eight programs had a term GPA of 3.00 or higher in the spring.
"Lion Athletics is synonymous with academic achievement, and this year's accomplishments in the classroom were a continued reflection of this unwavering commitment," said Director of Athletics Jim Curry.
"Congratulations to our teams and individual student-athletes for continuing to raise the standard on the playing surface and in the classroom and thank you to the staff and faculty who tirelessly support student success across our entire university."
Here is the list of the eight programs that recorded a term GPA of 3.00 or better in the spring 2024 semester.

One-hundred student-athletes in the sports of men's basketball, women's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, softball, men's track and field, and women's track and field, were named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for the spring semester. On top of that, 96 student-athletes that play the fall sports of soccer, volleyball, football, and cross country were recognized by the SLC earlier this year.
Additionally, nine were named to Southland Conference All-Academic teams, four women's golfers were highlighted as All-America Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association, and two track & field student-athletes were honored as All-Academic Athletes by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
"Seeing the great achievements of our student-athletes is always a highlight for me at the end of each semester. These students are truly impressive," said Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Dr. Tammi Vacha-Haase. "Our student-athletes continue to do an exceptional job of balancing academics and athletics, while being great ambassadors for our university. Thank you to our faculty and staff for once again providing the support that our student-athletes need to excel."
Individually, 200 student-athletes posted term GPA's of 3.00 or better this spring, including 43 that were named to the dean's list and 44 that were named on the president's list. Following the spring semester, 40 student-athletes participated in May commencement ceremonies.
