East Texas A&M Women's Basketball suffers 75-55 loss to Southeastern

HAMMOND, La. – Despite outshooting Southeastern Louisiana, 47 percent to 40 percent, the East Texas A&M University women's basketball team fell 75-55 on Saturday afternoon at the Pride Roofing University Center.
 
Southeastern clinched the outright Southland Conference title with the win on Saturday and is now 24-3 overall and a perfect 18-0 in conference play. East Texas A&M is now 6-20 overall and 3-14 in Southland Conference play, having lost four in a row. The Lions are still mathematically alive for a bid into the conference tournament with three games to play.
 
East Texas A&M scored the first two points of the game, but Southeastern scored the next six and the lead did not exchange hands the rest of the game. The Lions did manage to come back to tie the game at 12, but the Lady Lions scored the final five points of the first quarter and led 17-12.
 
After shooting 50 percent from the field in the first quarter, East Texas A&M shot 42 percent in the second and 38 percent in the third. In the game, the Lions shot 46.8 percent from the field, 8 for 18 from deep, and 3 for 5 at the line.
 
Southeastern shot 39.7 percent in the game, 5 for 16 from outside, but went 20 for 25 at the line. SLU had the 35-31 edge in rebounding. East Texas A&M committed 25 turnovers in the game and SLU scored 32 off turnovers, while committing just seven turnovers.
 
Off the bench, Allasia Washington scored 15 points, including going 8 for 8 at the line, while Kaili Chamberlin added 13 and Tyreona Sibley scored 11 off the bench. Alexius Horne led all SLU starters with 31 points.
 
Nina Horvath (Oberwart, Austria) had team-best 11 points for East Texas A&M and Alva Hedrich (Muecke, Germany) recorded game-high eight rebounds.
