Marie Baertz have been named this week's Dixie Turman State Farm Student-Athletes of the Week.
Garcia (Northwest Eaton) clocked in a time of 19:45.20 for fifth place at the UIW Invitational on Friday as the Lions finished sixth as a team in the four-mile race.
The Lion cross country teams are back in action on October 4 at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Baertz (Luxembourg) started off her season strong by tying for fifth place at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial last week. The Lions finished seventh in the season-opening competition and are currently competing in The Lady Clerico in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
The Dixie Turman State Farm Student-Athletes of the Week is awarded by Lion Athletics each week during the academic year in partnership with State Farm.
