Overview:
The Thrower Center for Student-Athlete Academic Support Services is responsible for the academic wellbeing and support of East Texas A&M University student-athletes in all 14 varsity sport programs. The department provides a home for academic services and development for student-athletes to have proper guidance and resources necessary to excel personally, academically and professionally.

Academic standards and requirements for student-athletes at East Texas A&M are no less stringent than for the general student population. East Texas A&M and the Department of Athletics are aware that participation in Division I intercollegiate athletics makes exceptional demands upon a student-athletes’ time and energy. Therefore, the Student-Athlete Support Services staff are committed to provide academic support programming to help student-athletes achieve their full academic potential.

Location:
The Thrower Center for Student-Athlete Support Services is located in the Northeast Corner of the Field House on the campus of East Texas A&M. The facility provides 19 desktop computers and free printing/copying services for all student-athletes to utilize.

Services:
Academic Support Programming

• Monitor student-athletes academic performance and NCAA athletic academic eligibility requirements
• Meet with student-athletes to discuss academic progress and any personal concerns
• Assist student-athletes in degree planning (major/minor) and course registration
• Reinforce time management, study skills, and intervention strategies for independence and lifelong learning
• Collaborate with various student services departments and faculty/staff on campus to support student-athletes holistically
• Refer student-athletes to campus tutoring support, as needed
• Track and supervise study hall hours
