Holmes joined the Lion staff in summer of 2018 as an offensive analyst and assistant offensive line coach. Prior to coaching, Holmes spent two seasons as an offensive lineman for A&M-Commerce. He was a member of the team's 2017 National Championship team as well as the 2016 Lone Star Conference championship team.

Prior to his collegiate career, Holmes was an All-State and All-District offensive lineman at John Tyler High School and was a member of the National Honor Society.
