Abigail Leaupepe-Tele began her coaching career as a member of the Woman's Basketball staff in the 2015-16 season. However, she was not a new addition to the Lion family. Abigail is a former athlete for A&M Commerce where she participated in women's basketball for four years and track and field for three years. She was a player under head coach Jason Burton during her senior season.
During the 2016-17 season, Coach Abby helped the Lions overcome a multitude of challenges to finish the season 20-9, the second best record in school history. During her two seasons as assistant coach, the team has had eight All-Lone Star Conference selections, two All-Defensive Team selections, the Freshman of the Year, two conference tournament appearances and a winning percentage of .621. The team finished 16-13 in the 2015-16 season.
As an athlete, one of her greatest accomplishments was winning an LSC Championship for discus in 2011-2012. The San Jose, California native graduated spring 2015 with a Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice.
