Igor Misljenovic

Misljenovic joined the Lion coaching staff in 2016 and has the primary focus of coaching the throwers.

During the 2017 indoor season, the Lion men finished in first place in the LSC Tournament, their third consecutive Indoor Track and Field title. The women finished in third place, their highest finish in school history. Among the contributors were the throwers, six of which finished with All-LSC honors. Chase Graham and Alexandra VanSickle and each won Field Athlete of the Week honors and four throwers were named to the All-Region Team. Florian Obst would go on to finish fourth in the heptathlon to be named a First Team All-American. VanSickle set a new school record in the shot put and Chelsea Cheek set the record in the pentathlon.

During the 2017 outdoor season, the program enjoyed one of its most successful seasons in program history. The men's team was crowned the LSC Champions after finishing first at the LSC Championships. The women's team also had a strong finish, placing third. 31 Lions were named to the All-Conference Team, including five male and one female thrower. Florian Obst would be named Outstanding Male Field Athlete of the Year. Kellon Alexis was named All-Region in three throwing events and Joseph Brown qualified twice. Joining them on the All-Region team were Obst, Chase Graham, Alexandra VanSickle and Anitial'a Robins. VanSickle broke the school record in the shot put and Hailey Wanoreck set the new school record in the hammer throw.

Misljenovic joined the staff after spending 2015 season at Western Michigan University as an assistant women’s track and field coach. His athletes set a new school record in the javelin throw, placed as a runner-up at the Mid-American Outdoor championship, as well as recorded two qualifying marks for the NCAA Division I East Preliminary round.

Prior to Western Michigan University, he spent two years at Central Methodist University as a graduate assistant throws coach. There he helped his student-athletes break six school records, reach NAIA National Championship qualifying marks eight times, produced four HAAC individual champions and 23 HAAC All-Conference honors.

Prior to his coaching career he was a thrower at Virginia Tech where he competed at a national level. He was the 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference champion in the discus throw and was All-ACC during both indoor and outdoor seasons. He won the team MVP his senior year, finished 14th at the 2010 outdoor NCAA Championship in the shot put and ninth in the shot put at the 2010 Indoor NCAA Championships.

He holds a bachelor degree in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise from Virginia Tech and a Master’s degree in education from Central Methodist University.
