Pat Tracy

Pat Tracy was hired as the throws coach at A&M-Commerce in the fall of 2019. He was previously the throws coach at Division I Western Michigan from 2016-19.

While at Western Michigan University, Tracy oversaw travel, recruiting, compliance, and intra-department communication. He doubled the size of the throwing squad, and had the highest number of qualified athletes to conference since 2011 with majority of the team being sophomores and freshmen. He was also a color commentator for ESPN in various sports. 

In 2019, the WMU discus throwers ranked as high as 16th nationally for NCAA Division I schools, and Audrey Oswalt qualified for regionals in the Javelin for the second time in her career. Abena Atuobi was All-Conference in the indoor shot put for the Broncos' highest finish for nearly a decade. Tracy took over the high jump mid-season and had the highest point total at a conference meet in school history with 12. He went on to coach all field events for the 2019 outdoor season and coached 24 All-Academic MAC Selections while at WMU.

At WMU, his throws group saw a big improvement during the 2018 season, culminating with Audrey Oswalt taking second in the javelin throw at the 2018 Outdoor Mid-American Conference Championships and earning Second Team All-MAC honors. Oswalt also went on to compete at the at NCAA East Preliminary Championships. 

Tracy joined the Broncos after spending time as the throws coach at Central Methodist University since 2014, where he also pursued a masters of education in sports administration. At CMU he created and implemented year-round practice and strength training regiments for all throwers. With Tracy's help CMU produced two All-Americans, three conference champions, five national qualifiers and 13 all-conference selections.

Tracy received a B.A. in psychological sciences and sociology from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., in 2014. He received his masters in Dec. 2016 from Central Methodist University in education with an emphasis in sports administration. Tracy also holds an USATF level one Track & Field coaching certification, while also holding certifications from the USTFCCCA in program management, injury management and sports psychology. He also possess certifications in Reflexive Performance Reset levels one and two and attended the USATF Emerging Elite Coaching Clinic at the Olympic Training Center in 2015.Â
