Abigail Russell

Abigail Russell

Abigail Russell serves as an Assistant athletic trainer at East Texas A&M, joining the Lion sports medicine staff in the fall of 2026. She works primarily with the volleyball and track & field program
 
Russell provides comprehensive medical care for student-athletes, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play programs, alongside team physicians, coaching staff, and fellow sports medicine professionals.
 
Prior to joining East Texas A&M, completing a year-long certified athletic training internship at Auburn University, where she worked with the men’s and women’s swimming and diving program. This allowed her to expand her professional skills as a clinician while providing care for Olympic and international-caliber student-athletes.
 
Abigail earned both her master of science in athletic training and bachelor of science in exercise science from the Ole Miss. During her graduate program with Ole Miss, she gained clinical experience with the football, baseball and women’s soccer programs. She also completed an immersive clinical rotation at Mississippi State with the men’s and women’s basketball programs.
 
Russell has a Board of Certification (BOC) for athletic trainers as well as addition certifications in Graston Technique, Functional Movement Screening (FMS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).
