Avi Mehta joined the Lions in August 2021. He oversees the Lions' athletic communications daily operations as well as live video production and creative services units.
Mehta came to Commerce after a two-year stint as the assistant sports information director at Linfield University in McMinnville, Ore. At Linfield, he began as part of the NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Grant and provided hands-on coverage for soccer, volleyball, baseball, basketball, tennis and lacrosse, and overseeing the Wildcats' social media outreach.
In the spring of 2021, Mehta was honored by the Northwest Conference as co-recipient of the Jack Sareault Award, which annually recognizes the league's top sports communications professionals.
Mehta came to Linfield from Towson University in Baltimore, Md., where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in sport management. He served an internship in the sports information office at Rutgers University before working part time as SID at Community College of Baltimore County-Catonsville.
Born in Ahmedabad, India, he grew up in Old Bridge, N.J.
