Elizabeth Murphy joined the East Texas A&M sports medicine team as an associate athletic trainer in July 2026. She serves as the primary contact for the women’s basketball and cross country programs.
Murphy oversees all facets of daily sports medicine operations for her teams: directing evidence-based injury prevention strategies, acute trauma and emergency management, advanced progressive rehabilitation protocols, and interprofessional care coordination alongside all kinds of clinical specialists.
Prior to arriving in Commerce, Murphy worked with the UTRGV women’s basketball and golf programs as an associate athletic trainer, arriving in December 2025. There, she worked closely with other athletic trainers, coaches, physicians, dieticians, and physical therapists to provide comprehensive medical care for both Division I programs.
Murphy also spent time at HCU, arriving in June 2024, to work closely with the indoor volleyball and softball teams. She arrived there after finishing school, overseeing injury evaluation and management, rehabilitation, and return to sport programming for both teams.
Earning both her master’s in athletic training (MSAT) and bachelor’s in health and rehabilitation sciences from Pittsburgh, Murphy completed over 3,000 hours of clinical education outside the classroom while developing her skills. She completed rotations with Fox Chapel High School, Pitt softball, Robert Morris football, and most notably, Pitt men’s and women’s basketball, where she completed her immersive clinical experience and developed a passion for working with basketball athletes.
A native of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Murphy is dedicated to supporting her athletes through their careers and beyond. Helping them achieve peak performance on the court, while also encouraging health and wellness in all facets of life.
