Josiah Castro serves as Deputy Athletics Director and Chief Revenue Officer at East Texas A&M University, where he is a member of the department’s senior leadership team and provides strategic oversight for external operations, revenue generation, sport administration, and long-term planning.

Since joining East Texas A&M in 2023, Castro has led the department’s ticket sales, corporate partnerships, development, marketing, fan engagement, and communications units, helping position Lion Athletics for sustained growth during its Division I era. Under his leadership, the department achieved the highest external revenue total in school history, surpassing $2.3 million, while also setting institutional records in ticket sales and donor participation. Castro has helped expand new revenue opportunities through licensing and name, image and likeness (NIL) initiatives.

In addition to his external responsibilities, Castro serves as the sport administrator for volleyball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s cross country/track and field, and the spirit program. In that role, he provides oversight and support in the areas of student-athlete welfare, competitive success, academic achievement, budget management, and strategic planning. The programs under his supervision have produced conference award winners, academic honorees, championship contenders, and NCAA postseason qualifiers while maintaining a strong commitment to excellence in the classroom and the community. He also represents athletics on the university’s strategic planning team and serves as a liaison to several key campus and athletics partners.

Prior to East Texas A&M, Castro spent four years at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where he advanced to Senior Associate Athletics Director and Chief Revenue Officer. As a member of the Islanders’ senior staff, he helped guide a period of unprecedented competitive success that included 20 conference regular-season and tournament championships. During his tenure, the department generated more than $5.7 million in revenue, established multiple fundraising and sponsorship records, and secured major gifts supporting scholarships, facilities, student-athlete experiences, and program enhancements.

Before arriving in Corpus Christi, Castro served in athletics development leadership roles at California State University, Bakersfield, where he helped produce several of the most successful fundraising years in department history and played a key role in securing major gifts, capital project support, and planned giving commitments. He also held positions in development, ticket sales, and corporate partnerships at New Mexico State University.

Earlier in his career, Castro worked for APCO Worldwide in Washington, D.C., providing research, strategic analysis, and communications support for Fortune 500 clients.

A native of New Mexico, Castro earned a Master of Professional Studies in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from New Mexico State University, where he was a letterwinner on the cheerleading squad. He is an active member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

Castro and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Northeast Texas and are the proud parents of two sons.
