Malen Hernandez

Malen Hernandez joined the East Texas A&M University athletic department as the Assistant Director of Business Operations in September 2026. Her work focuses on building strong relationships across campus and with external stakeholders while coordinating programs, boards, communications, and operational processes that support institutional priorities.
 
Prior to her current role, Hernandez worked in alumni and advancement operations at Texas Tech, serving as a liaison between Alumni Relations, Institutional Advancement, the Vice Provost’s Office, the Office of the President, Texas Tech Athletics, executive alumni and donor boards, and external stakeholders. She supported more than 114 domestic and international alumni boards and chapters and worked closely with executive-level leaders, including CEOs, Vice Presidents for Development, and Executive Directors.
 
Her experience includes board and chapter management, executive support, vendor and procurement coordination, contracts, budgeting, financial tracking, reporting, and CRM administration. She has worked extensively with University CRM systems, managing and supporting constituent data ranging from 1,000 to more than 400,000 records. She has also supported campaigns communications reaching more than 100,000 alumni, donors, leaders, and stakeholders and assisted with the tracking and reporting of significant fundraising and advancement activity.
 
Throughout her career, Hernandez has demonstrated a commitment to collaboration, relationship building, and operational excellence within higher education. Her professional experience spans advancement, executive operations, stakeholder engagement, communications, data management, and program coordination.
 
Hernandez earned a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies and a Master of Business Administration in S.T.E.M from Texas Tech. She is passionate about higher education and creating meaningful experiences and connections that advance the mission of the institutions and communities she serves.
