East Texas A&M named Tre’ Johnson the Assistant Athletics Director for Development in April 2024.
Johnson comes over to the athletic department after serving as the Director of Philanthropy at East Texas A&M in the Division of Philanthropy and Engagement over the past year. He was the frontline fundraiser for all major gifts to the university.
In his new role within Lion Athletics, Johnson is tasked with leading and coordinating all fundraising activities for the athletic departments, especially major gifts, and annual gifts to the Lion Athletics Scholarship Fund.
Johnson began his career in donor and alumni relations as a student worker at Southeastern Louisiana University, a fellow Southland Conference institution. Following graduation from Southeastern, he spent four years at George College and State University as the assistant director of alumni awards, reunions, and collaborations.
Prior to arriving at East Texas A&M, Johnson was the director of affinity groups and special projects at Benedict College.
A native of New Orleans, Johnson received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Southeastern as well as his master’s degree in sport management. He loves to cook and cheer on his Saints during football season. Johnson resides in Greenville with his wife, Dr. Tyron’E Hawkins.
