The Varsity football team of the College defeated the Rounders in four ten-minute quarters of very interesting football last Monday afternoon on the College athletic field.

The play, everything considered, was of good class and speed. Both sides were somewhat slow on account of unfamiliarity with the signals, inasmuch as many of the men on both sides were almost entirely inexperienced. There were no truly star plays, with the probable exception of a fifty yard run by Anderson for the Rounders, only to be dragged down on the Varsity's twelve yard line by Dyer and Bedwell. Forward passes were not attempted but twice by the Rounders, both failing to be complete, while out of five tosses by the Varsity, four were complete. On the line both teams were weak, the back field for both sides often breaking through the guard and center for decided gains. On the defensive, Folks for the Varsity, at first safty, and Mayo, also for Varsity, were very hard to get gains on.

The score at the end of the first half was 6 to 0 for the Varsity, caused by a fake field kick. The Varsity had the ball on the Rounders' fifteen yard line at the third down Mayo for Varsity dropped back for a try at goal, but finding the grass too high for an accurate drop kick, he punted the ball, Dyer recovering the ball over the line for a touchdown.

In the second half Varsity had the ball on the Rounders' twenty yard line and Folks, the punter for Varsity, signaled for a punt, which he booted across the line. The ball was then recovered by Mayo for touchdown. The final score was 12 to 0 for the first string men.
