SCORELESS TIE RESULT OF GAME AT COMMERCE.

Commerce, Texas, Nov. 14 -- Battling against decided odds in support of weight and displaying sterling fighting qualities when pressed, the East Texas State Normal College of this place held the Southeastern State Normal of Durant, Ok., to a scoreless tie here this afternoon.

The game was hard fought throughout, East Texas carrying the fight into their opponents' territory and threatening to score in every quarter except the third, in which Oklahoma carried the ball to the Texas fifteen-yard line, only to be thrown back by the charge of the lighter ends and backs of Texas. The game ended with the ball in East Texas possession. On their opponents' eighteen-yard line, following a steady march down the field by the locals, the Lone Star men threatened more in the first quarter than any other, while Oklahoma was very dangerous in the third. Once an Oklahoma man had a clear field to the goal, but Parson overtook and downed him while Deford recovered the ball which had gotten away. In the next quarter De Jernett broke up a long pass, which, if completed, would have spelled ruin for East Texas. However, the rest of the game was hard fought, with Griffitts, Jernigan and Singleton making good gains for Texas.

Sparkman, Carlock, Nelson and Singleton did fine work for East Texas State Normal, while McCorcle, Johnson and Springer were the stars for Oklahoma. Parsons' hard tackle was the feature of the hard game.
