EAST TEXAS NORMAL WINS FROM BURLESON.

COMMERCE, Texas, Oct. 28. -- In a hard-fought but clean game of football played here yesterday afternoon between Burleson College and East Texas State Normal the Normal won by the score of 10 to 0. From the first whistle it was a fight all the way through. The first half ended scoreless. Burleson outplayed the Normal in first half, making seven first downs against five for the Normal. The half ended with the ball in the center of the field. Straight football was used by both sides in the first half, while punting and passing was resorted to in the closing stage.

In the third quarter a thirty-yard pass, Grissom to Owens, paved the way for the Normal touchdown on line plunges. Wimberley, Normal half, carried the ball to Burleson's one-yard line, where, with four downs to make it, the Burleson line held like a stone wall for two downs. Pennington, who has been declared one of the best backs in the T.I.A.A., was sent in for Wimberley and he carried the ball over right tackle on his first plunge. He also kicked goal. The field goal was a twenty-two-yard place kick by Wimberley. This was perfectly executed. Lynch and Graham were the bright ligths for Burleson, while Pennington, Wimberleu, Grissom and Bridges stood out for the Normal.
