Setting up a stout defense, the Lions continued their offensive game, when they won their first Lone Star Conference battle with a 27-0 victory over the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks in Commerce October 11.

The East Texas forward wall gave up a net of 73 yards while helping their backs accumulate 315. James Batchelor tossed 24 passes for the Lions, completed 11 for a net of 155 yards and one touchdown, and drove through the line for another. Bobby (Red) Griffin connected on two touchdown aerials and ran for one. The Lions tallied their only safety of the season when Billy Stamps drove through the opposing line to recover a 'Jack fumble.
