Two players had double digit
kills and three had double digit digs in a 25-22, 25-21, 23-25,
23-25, 15-13 win by the Texas A&M University-Commerce
volleyball team over host Texas Woman's on Wednesday night.
Texas A&M
University-Commerce (19-7, 4-3 LSC) junior Naomi
Mays led the Lions attack with a match-high 21 kills on 54
attempts for a .241 hitting percentage. She was joined in double
digits by freshman Rachel Robertson and junior
Terra Ousley (pictured), who had 13 and
12 kills, respectively.
Texas Woman's (13-12, 3-4 LSC)
was led by Alyson Harlan, who had 19 kills to lead the Pioneers.
She was in double digits along with Amanda Hall, who added 16 in
the loss.
The Lions had three players
with double digit digs including senior Lauren
Flynn, who had 25. Freshman Ashleigh
Barnett and senior Perla Faudoa each had
15 and 10 digs, respectively. Barnett also had a team-high three
service aces and senior teammate Amy Addison added
two more. Faudoa had four kills and 53 assists in the five-set
win.
A&M-Commerce jumped out to
a two set to none advantage until the Pioneers came back to take
the next two before the match was decided in the fifth set. The
Lions jumped out to a 7-3 advantage until TWU managed to tie it at
11-11. Kills by Robertson, Ousley and Mays put the Lions in front
by a 14-12 margin and another kill by Ousley closed out the match
for the A&M-Commerce victory.
The Lions will be idle for the
weekend before resuming Lone Star Conference play on Thursday,
October 22nd at 7 pm as they host Central Oklahoma at the
A&M-Commerce Field House.
