The Texas
A&M University-Commerce volleyball team picked up two more wins
on Friday, winning over Dallas Baptist (25-14, 18-25, 26-24, 25-16)
and Newman (25-13, 25-13, 21-25, 22-25, 15-12) at the Pittsburg
State Classic.
Against
Dallas Baptist, A&M-Commerce (17-4) junior Naomi Mays led the
Lions in the win with 17 kills and senior Alyssa Oberle added 12
more. Senior Perla Faudoa recorded 36 assists; plus seniors Lauren
Flynn and Amy Addison provided 26 and 19 digs, respectively.
The Lions
hit .181 and had eight blocks in the win, including a block solo
and four block assists from freshman Rachel Robertson.
Dallas
Baptist (8-8) had a pair of players, Kristin Secord and Kaylyn
Frink with 13 and 12 kills, respectively in the loss. Three
Patriots had double digit digs including Amanda Emmert, who had a
match-high 28.
A&M-Commerce
closed out the day with its second win over Newman on the season.
Earlier in the year, the Lions defeated Newman (21-25, 25-18,
25-17, 25-19) on Sept. 5.
The Lions
raced out to a two set advantage with back-to-back wins by a 25-13
margin. A&M-Commerce hit .290 in the first set and an even more
impressive .448 in the second set.
Senior
Alyssa Oberle had a season-high 19 kills to pace three Lions with
double-digit kills. Freshman Rachel Robertson and junior Naomi Mays
added 15 and 13, respectively. Senior Perla Faudoa recorded 58
assists and 14 digs; plus she added three block assists in the
win.
In the win,
the Lions hit .235, recorded eight service aces and had seven
blocks.
Newman
(4-13) was led by Angie Bennett and Lauren Poe, who each had 14
kills. Four Jets had double-digit digs and Ashley Myers led the
attack with 33 assists.
The Lions
will close out the Pittsburg State Classic on Saturday when they
will face MIAA foes, host Pittsburg State at 10:30 am and Missouri
Southern State at 2 pm.
