The Texas A&M
University-Commerce volleyball team closed out the regular season
with a 25-20, 28-26, 25-23 loss to Southeastern Oklahoma State on
Saturday at the A&M-Commerce Field House.
A&M-Commerce (24-9, 8-5
LSC) entered the match with a spot already secured in next week's
Lone Star Conference Tournament.
Senior Alyssa Oberle led the
Lions attack that hit .138 with a team-high eight kills. It is only
the fifth loss for the Lions that have been in straight
sets.
Southeastern Oklahoma (22-14,
6-7 LSC) put itself in contention for a spot in the tournament with
the win. Pending the outcome of the UCO/Midwestern State match, the
Savage Storm will find out its postseason fate.
Brittany McDonald and Destiny
Brown had 13 and 10 kills to pace an SOSU attack that hit
.215. Alex Cassell
had a match-high 40 assists and Lunden Azuara had a match-high 20
digs. SOSU also had seven service aces and posted six team blocks
in the win.
The Lions advance next to the
Lone Star Conference Tournament that will begin on November 12th in
Canyon, Texas as regular season champion West Texas A&M will
serve as the host.
