A balanced attack
by the Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team led the
host Lions to a 26-24, 25-14, 25-16 win over Eastern New Mexico on
Saturday at the A&M-Commerce Field House.
Junior Terra
Ousley led a Lions attack who raised their record to 15-4
overall and 3-1 in the LSC with eight kills to pace an
A&M-Commerce attack that hit .183 in the win. Junior teammate
Naomi Mays added seven and freshmen Rachel
Robertson and Reagan Hayes each had five.
In addition to the balanced attack, the A&M-Commerce service
game had a season-high eight aces in the win including five from
freshman Ashleigh Barnett.
Eastern New Mexico
(4-14, 0-4 LSC) hit .076 and had five service errors in the loss.
Madison Rhodes led the Zias with eight kills.
The Lions raced out to
an 11-2 advantage in the opening set; however, the Zias managed to
eventually tie the set but A&M-Commerce capitalized on a pair
of ENMU attack errors to take the opening set, 26-24.
In the second set after
the two teams were tied, A&M-Commerce went on a 12-1 run to
take a 2-0 lead and the second set by a 25-14 margin. In the run,
the Zias had five errors and Robertson had two kills for the
Lions.
In the third set, the
Lions led from start-to-finish as they hit at a .343 clip. Hayes
and Mays each had five kills to lead the attack.
Next, A&M-Commerce
will take their final trip away from the rigors of the Lone Star
Conference as they travel to Pittsburg State to face Dallas Baptist
and Newman on Friday, Oct. 2 and Pittsburg State and Missouri
Southern State on Saturday, Oct. 3.
