The Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team lost to East Central on Thursday night, 25-8, 25-22, 25-17 in Ada, Oklahoma at the Kerr Center.
A&M-Commerce (12-13, 3-8 LSC) found itself playing from behind the entire match, leading just twice. Senior Naomi Mays led the Lions' attack with 10 kills and fellow senior Rachael Shelton had a match and career-high 23 assists. Mays also added eight digs and sophomore Reagan Hayes had a team-best and match-high 13 digs in the loss.
East Central (4-24, 2-9 LSC) out hit the Lions by a .211 to .040 margin. Juniors Tatiana Booth and Yakira Essix, who are both from Commerce, led the attack for the Tigers with eight kills. Booth also had a hand in a match-high four blocks and ECU had five service aces in the win.
The Lions are back in action on Saturday at 2 p.m. when they travel to Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant.
