FIRST SERVE
A&M-Commerce will look to get back on track from two tough losses last weekend at Angelo State and Tarleton State and avoid their third straight loss on Wednesday to Texas Woman's. The Lions did sweep the Tigers last week and will look to do the same on Saturday.
SERIES SCORE
The Lions hold a 40-32 record all-time versus the Pioneers. However, Texas Woman's have won four straight including a 3-1 victory back on September 17 in the Lone Star Conference opener for both teams. A&M-Commerce has been dominant against the Tigers, holding a 19-1 record all-time. That is including the Lions three-set win just last week.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Texas Woman's has alternated wins and losses in their last four games, all of which were on the road. The Pioneers sit third in the LSC just a half game back of second place Angelo State. The attack for the Pioneers is balanced with three different players over the 160-kill plateau and two more over 120. Guiding the attack are Kayla Rivero and Kimberly Bell. Rivero has 423 assists and Bell has 390 in the Pioneers 6-2 attack.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The Tigers have won two straight after losing six straight. Abby Pickett leads the attack for Ouachita Baptist with 154 kills and 2.48 per set. Jayme Shell and Kelley Ballard have recorded at least 100 kills each as well this season. Keely Howk is the setter for the Tigers and has posted 632 assists and 9.58 per set. Howk's average puts here third in the Great American Conference.
NEAL BREAKS CAREER ASSIST MARK
With her 27th assist versus Angelo State, Jordan Neal became the all-time leader in assists in A&M-Commerce history. Melissa Staiger held the previous record – 3,843 – since 2000. Neal will now look to become the first Lion with 4,000 career assists.
HOLMES SETS NEW CAREER HIGH
Senior outside hitter, Ciara Holmes set a new career high when she hit .647 in a 3-0 sweep of Ouachita Baptist last week. Holmes had 12 kills and just one error on 17 total attacks.
BOND MOVING UP BLOCK LISTS
Senior, Kayla Bond is now just four block assists from moving into the Top Five in Lion volleyball history. Bond sits seventh with 213 block assists for her career. Bond is also in the Top 10 in total blocks with 261 and just six from moving into ninth place.
SPICER TIES PERSONAL MARK
Libero, Michaela Spicer tied a career high with her 29 digs at Angelo State. Spicer also recorded 29 digs versus William Jewell back on September 8, 2012.
