Defensively the Lions got 12 digs from Michaela Spicer and 10 from Dakota Crockett.

The two sides exchanged the first 16 points of set one before the Lions got a three-point lead after a kill from Holmes to make it 11-8. Tarleton State answered quickly with three straight of their own to tie the score.

With the score tied at 16 the Lions scored three of the next four points to take a 19-17 lead off a kill from Davault. Tarleton would eventually tie the score at 21 but the Lions ran off four of five points and sealed the set at 25-22 after an attack error from Tarleton State.

An ace from Neal got the Lions on the board first in the second set. The Lions built a 9-5 advantage with back-to-back aces from Crockett.
