Lions Host Kingsville for Senior Night

Commerce, Texas –The A&M-Commerce volleyball team looks to keep the momentum going after registering a much-needed LSC victory over Cameron University. When the Lions welcome LSC rival Texas A&M-Kingsville to the Field House on Friday, October 31. Tomorrow night will be senior night and the Lions will be honoring the lone senior Amy Davault.
 
In the previous match-up this season the Lions fell at Kingsville three games to none. In the match the Javelinas had 15 more kills than the Lions and A&M-Commerce committed 20 errors compared to only 16 for A&M-Kingsville.
 
The Javelinas (15-10, 5-7 LSC) are currently in fifth place in the Lone Star Conference. A&M-Kingsville has lost two of the last three matches. The losses were against LSC foes Tarleton State and Angelo State with the lone win coming against Texas A&M International.
 
Freshman setter Casey Klobendans ignites the Javelina offense. Klobendans currently ranks first in the LSC with 922 assists an average of 10.13 per set.  A majority of those assists have been finished off with kills by sophomore middle blocker Ashley Bukowski who leads A&M-Kingsville with 264. Defensively the Javalinas are anchored by a pair of senior middle blockers, Stephanie Johns and Ashley Tipps. Tipps is averaging 1.12 blocks per game fifth in the LSC. Johns leads the team in total blocks registering 94.
 
Davault has led the Lions all season and currently ranks eighth in the nation with 376 kills. Assisting on a majority of those kills is freshman setter Courtney Tate who is averaging 9.74 assists per set, which ranks third in the LSC. Libero Ashley Mireles is the leader defensively she has a team-high 443 digs and is averaging of 4.76 per set. Delanee Clark contributes .75 blocks per game and has totaled 58 this season.
 
First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. fans are encouraged to dress up for the Halloween costumes contest and the person with the best costume will receive a prize.
