Davault Has Dominating Performance In A Win Over Henderson State

Commerce, Texas –The A&M-Commerce volleyball team had a dominating three set win over Henderson State Tuesday. In Amy Davault's final home match of her career she racked up 25 kills with a .511 hitting percentage. Davault's performance is only the third time this century that a player has registered 25 kills in a 3-set match for the Lions. Davault joins former LSC Player of the year Rachel Robertson who in 2012 had 25 kills against Abilene Christian, and Lion volleyball legend Amy Wallace who registered 25 kills against Midwestern State in 2003.

The Lions jumped all over the Lady Reddies 7-1. Davault ignited the run with three kills in the first four points. Courtney Tate added back-to-back service aces to cap off the impressive run. Two consecutive Davault kills put Henderson State away 25-17.

Davault dominated in the second set tallying nine of her 25 kills in the set and had a hitting percentage of .600. The Lions went on an early run behind three consecutive Davault kills en route to a 25-12 victory. Taryn Driver had five of her 10 kills in the set.

In the third set the Lions took an 8-4 early lead behind a Shantel Norton kill. A Sydney Reyes kill and Lacie Jessup service ace would give the Lions a 11-7 lead over Henderson State. Back-to Back Hannah Dykstra kills put away the Lady Reddies.

Nayeli Colunga led the Reddies offensively with 10 kills and a .257 hitting percentage. Ryleigh Thompson contributed 16 assists. Defensively Charlai Francis led the way with a team-high with 16 digs.

The Lions had 53 kills and had a team hitting percentage of .342. Davault had her third consecutive double-double with 14 digs to go along with her 25 kills. Tate had a match-high 39 assists and continually put A&M-Commerce in position to score points. Ashley Mireles had a match-high 22 digs and was all over the court making impressive digs.

A&M-Commerce concludes the season on the road with two Lone Star Conference matches. On Friday, October 7 the Lions travel to Portals, New Mexico for a match with Eastern New Mexico. On Saturday the Lions have their season finale against West Texas A&M.
