Copperas Cove, Texas – A&M-Commerce is making its second consecutive appearance in the postseason as the Lions are set to renew and old rivalry against East Central (Okla.) Saturday at 6 p.m. in the C.H.A.M.P. Heart of Texas Bowl in Bulldawg Stadium.
1st and 10- A&M-Commerce is coming off a 35-33 loss in the Lone Star Conference Playoff Championship game to Angelo State ... The Lions won the LSC Championship after going 6-1 in league play ... It was 21st overall title -- second highest title total in the conference --- and first since 1990 ... It was also the 15th time the Lions won the title outright.
- The Lions advanced to the finals with a 56-49 win over Tarleton State ... The Lions sealed the win with a goal line stand after surrendering a 20-point, 48-28, lead in the third quarter.
- The Lions routed McMurry 91-13 prior to the TSU game ... The Lions were the only team at any level in the NCAA to score over 90 points after beating ETBU 98-20, in the opening game of the season, but have now accomplished the feat twice.
- The Lions are the NCAA's best scoring offense averaging 52.5 points per game ... No team at the FBS or FCS level averages more points per game than the Lions ... Only one NCAA team, a DIII team, averages more points than A&M-Commerce.
- A&M-Commerce is also ranked first in total offense with 528.4 yards and third in passing offense at 365.0 yards per game ... On the defensive side, the team is second in the NCAA in tackles for a loss at 10.5 and first in punt blocks, 6 ...
Saul Martinez is second the NCAA in field goals per game and is ninth in scoring.
- In the McMurry game, Martinez made all 13 of his PATs setting a new LSC and A&M-Commerce record for attempts and makes ...
Tre'von Taylor recorded 5.5 tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks ... He broke the school record for sacks and matched the record for TFL.
- In the win over ETBU, the Lions shattered NCAA, LSC and school records ... The 986 yards of total offense set a new NCAA record.
- Following the ETBU game, the Lions were featured on ESPN's SportsCenter, College GameDay, NBC Sports, Fox Sports1 and numerous local and regional news outlets.
- The 2014 team has set 24 individual, school, career, LSC and NCAA records during the season.
About the Series against the Tigers- The two teams meet for the 22nd time with the Lions holding a 14-6-1 all-time series record ... The first game was played in the 1929 season with ECU winning 37-0.
- ECU was a member of the LSC from 1995 to 2011 ... During that stretch the Lions went 5-3 against the Tigers.
- ECU won the last meeting, 36-33, back in 2010 ... Prior to that win, the Lions had reeled off three straight.

About East Central- The Tigers enter the game on a two-game losing streak following losses to Harding, 41-14, and Southeastern Oklahoma State, 18-15, to end the regular season.
