The Lions Look for Revenge Against DBU

The Lions, 6-2, return to the Field House as A&M-Commerce goes for their fourth consecutive win against Dallas Baptist 4-1 with tipoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6.

 

Fast-break Points About A&M-Commerce

- The Lions are on a four game win streak after coming off of back-to-back wins over top 25 opponents with a 68-67 win over No. 11 Cal.-Baptist and a 74-64 win over No. 17 Dixie State in the CBU Thanksgiving Classic and a 93-85 win over Southern Ark.

- Darrell Williams has grabbed 15 plus rebounds in three games this season -- 15 at Ouachita Baptist,17 vs. Cal. Baptist and 15 vs. Souther Arkansas ... Since 2002-03 the Lions have not had a player record 15 plus rebounds i n two games.

- Prior to the Lions 100-75 win over Sul Ross State in their home opener ... The Lions hit the century mark in consecutive games for the first time since the 2006-07 season when A&M-Commerce scored in triple figures three times.

- A&M-Commerce fell 104-101 at Dallas Baptist in overtime ... The Lions were 50-of-65 from the free throw line ... Both were school records while the 50 makes tied the highest mark in the LSC ... LaDon Carnegie was 18-of-23 setting a new school record for makes and attempts.

- Carnegie also tallied a career-high 37 points ... Anthony Adams and Craig Fofang recorded their first double-double ... Adams had 20 points and 10 assists, while Fofang scored 11 points and had 10 rebounds.

- Carnegie was the second Lion to earn LSC Offensive player of the week after his 37 at DBU and 20 points at Ouachita Baptist ... Darrell Williams has earned LSC Player of the Week honors twice. In the first week of the season after two 20-point games and in the third week he was Defisive Player of the Week averaging 17.7PPG and 12.3 RPG.

- The Lions are coming off a 19-9 season overall and a 7-7 mark in Lone Star Conference games.

- The 2014-15 Lions return only five players off of the 2013-14 team ... The squad has added nine newcomers but only has one true freshman.

- The Lions are coached by Sam Walker ... Walker is in his 15th season with A&M-Commerce and is the school's all-time winningest coach with an overall of 230-174 ... He has complied a 94-88 record in LSC games.

A&M-Commerce vs. Dallas Baptist:  The Series

- The Lions are 14-8 against the Patriots all-time  with the two teams meeting for the 23nd time Saturday.

- The Lions dropped a game to the Patriots earlier this season.The game went into OT and A&M-Commerce fell 104-101. In the game there were a total of 72 fouls called and 105 free throws attempted

- The first meeting between the two teams came in 1971-72, an 89-69 A&M-Commerce loss.

- The Lions have surpasses the century mark fourtimes against the Patriots, 101-91 in 1974-75, 109-73 in 1976-77 and 101-66 in 1978-79 and 101-104 in 2014.


 

About the Patriots

- Dallas Baptist enters the game at 4-1 overall after a 77-63 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan on December 3 ... The  Patriots opened season with a 92-89 loss to Colorado Mesa and have rebounded with four consecutive wins.

- Johnson Myles leads the Patriots with 20.6 points per game shooting 57.9 percent from the floor and 59.4 percent from three point range ... Amari Bryant and Shannon Lilly both average 12.0 PPG.

- Franklin Uzonwanne averages a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game.
