Lions Volleyball Looks to Snap Ouachita Baptists’ Six-Match Win Streak

COMMERCE, TEXAS- The Lions' volleyball (2-7) team travels to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to take on Ouachita Baptist University (6-1) on Wednesday, September 17. A&M-Commerce is looking to snap a three-match losing streak.
 
Ouachita Baptist in currently on a six-match winning streak. The Tigers went 3-1 in the Alabama Huntsville Tournament with victories over Alabama Huntsville, Trevecca Nazarene and Miles College. Ouachita Baptist only blemish was a 3-2 loss to Southwest Baptist University to start the tournament. The Tigers stayed hot with a 3-2 win over Southern Arkansas and back-to-back three match sweeps over Williams Baptist and Lyon College. Meanwhile the Lions are looking to get back on the winning track after going 1-3 in the A&M-Commerce Classic. The Lions won a thrilling first match beating Southern Arkansas 3-2. A&M-Commerce had losses against No.17 Colorado School of Mines, Arkansas Fort Smith and a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Dallas Baptist.
 
The Tigers are led by senior Kelley Ballard who is the team leader in kills with 59 only 16 attack errors and has a hitting percentage of .307.  Ballard also has a team high in blocks with 22 this includes 11 solo blocks.
 
 
Senior Amy Davault is coming off back to back double-doubles for the Lions. Davault is the team leader in kills with 125 averaging 3.68 kills per set. Courtney Tate is averaging 9.06 assists per set and has tallied a team leading 308 assists. Tate recorded a triple-double in the loss to Dallas Baptist. Ashley Mireles has 153 digs an average of 4.5 per set.
 
First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. The Lions return home Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20. A&M-Commerce welcome a couple of LSC foes to the Lions Fieldhouse playing Cameron and Midwestern University.
