Commerce, Texas – A&M-Commerce churned out 547 yards of total offense including a pair of running backs over the century mark for the second straight game in a 42-31 fourth quarter come-from-behind win over Eastern New Mexico Saturday in Memorial Stadium.
Turning Point- With the Lions trailing 31-28, Commerce native
Buck Wilson came around on a reverse, pulled up and connected with
Lance Evans for a 48-yard strike to set the Lions up for the first – a
Harrison Stewart 18-yard TD toss to
Darby Smith -- of two unanswered scores in the fourth quarter.
Highlights-
Richard Cooper paved the way with 158 all-purpose yards and three scores, two rushing and one receiving. Cooper accounted for 155 yards on the ground on 19 carries.

Theo Wofford ran seven times for 133 yards and score. He had a long of 81 yards on the day.

Harrison Stewart completed 13 of his 22 passes for 219 yards and two TDs. He completed both of his pass attempts for 57 yards and one score in the critical moments of the fourth.

Darby Smith and
Lance Evans each hauled in five passes. Smith accounted for 80 yards and the only score for the wideouts, while Evans had a team-high 112 yards through the air.

Charles Woods made a game-high 15 tackles including one and a half tackles for loss. He had six solo tackles and nine tackle assists.

Cole Pitts followed with 14 tackles including 10 solo tackles. Pitts also had one and a half tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.

Kevin Mederias,
Toni Pulu and
Davarus Shores trailed with nine tackles. Mederias had seven solo takedowns.
- As a team the Lions outrushed the Greyhounds. A&M-Commerce had 280 yards on the ground on 32 carries for an average of 8.8 yards per rush. ENMU accounted for 257 yards on 63 carriers for an average of 4.1 yards per rush.
Summary1st Quarter- Eastern New Mexico got the scoring started with 10-play, 65-yard drive that lasted 4:20 on the first drive of the game. Jeremy Doucette capped the drive off with a 4-yard touchdown plunge.
- The Lions answered with a 6-play, 89-yard quick scoring strike sparked by a 47-yard completion from Stewart to
Derrick Macon. Gabriel Rodriquez finished the drive with a 1-yard TD run.
- Pitts fell on fumble that ENMU lost at the mesh point in the option to set the Lions' offense up at the Greyhound 41 yard line. Cooper broke off a 36-yard run on 3rd-and-7 to move the ball down the two yard line. Cooper finished the drive from the two with a TD run.
- ENMU answered with 65-yard double pass from Adrian Horton to Kamal Cass to tie the game at 14.
- Wofford took the first play from scrimmage on the ensuing Lion drive and scampered 81 yards for the score.
2nd Quarter- The Greyhounds answered with a 13-play, 73-yard drive that drained 5:13 off the clock. Jeremy Doucette scored on a 3-yard run to tie the game at 21 with 13:39 left.
- After stopping a Lion drive on fourth down, ENMU drove 65-yards in 6-plays and kicked a 21-yard field goal to take a 24-21 lead.
- The Lions took advantage of a muffed ENMU punt at the Greyhoounds 32 yard line with 1:14 left before half.
Ovie Urevbu came up with the loose football for the Lions. A&M-Commerce took a 28-24 lead before the half following a 5-play, 32-yard drive capped off by a Stewart to Cooper 5-yard pass.
Darby Smith caught two passes for 16 yards on the drive.
3rd Quarter- ENMU scored the only points in the 3rd quarter following a 15-play, 80-yard drive capped off by a 6-yard pass from Jeremy Buurma to Adrian Horton to give the Greyhounds a 31-28 lead.
4th Quarter- The Lions responded with a 4-play, 73-yard drive that ended in an 18-yard TD pass from Stewart to D. Smith to give the Lions a 35-31 lead. Wilson completed a 48-yard reverse pass to
Lance Evans on the drive.
- A&M-Commerce drove 85 yards in five plays for an important touchdown to make it a two-score game, 42-31, with 5:48 left in the game. Cooper punched across his second score of the game, this time from six yards out.
Inside the box score- Wofford's 81-yard touchdown run was the longest rush of his career and his longest scoring play scrimmage. It was the Lions second longest play from scrimmage in 2015 following the 86-yard strike from Stewart to
Darby Smith. Entering play this weekend it is tied for the 7th longest rush in the NCAA DII in 2015. The run was the longest rush in 10 seasons for the Lions. Roger Daley broke off a 91-yard vs. Northeastern State in 2005 as the only mark longer.
- Wofford's 133 rushing yards also set a new career-high.

Richard Cooper's three scores and 18 points set new personal best for the junior back. His receiving TD was also the first of his career.
- Pitts' 14 tackles set a new personal best for the senior linebacker.
- Pulu, Shores and Mederias' nine tackles were all career-highs for those three Lions.
- Rodriquez scored his first points as a Lion with his rushing TD in the first quarter.
- After his 219 yards through the air, Stewart has thrown for over 1,000 yards through the first four games of the season. He currently sits at 1,023 yards. For his Lion career, Stewart has thrown for 2,866 yards.
- The Lions recorded their third game of over 500 yards of total offense with the 547 yards Saturday. In the Carthel-Storm three-year span, the Lions have surpassed that mark 12 times – 7 times in 2014 and twice in 2013.
- The Lions have rushed for over 200 yards in three of their first four games this season. Cooper has surpassed the century mark in four straight games, with Wofford accounting for over 100 yards in two of the four games.
- The fourth quarter comeback win was the first since the Lions trailed at Angelo State, 33-31, entering the fourth on October 11, 2014.
- The Lions wore throwback East Texas uniforms during the game. It is the first time since the end of the 1995 season ET was worn on the turf of Memorial Stadium. The tribute is to the school's former name, East Texas State. A&M-Commerce went under the name of East Texas until 1996 when the university joined the Texas A&M system.
- The win gave the Lions the program's 500th win all-time.
What's Next- The Lions (3-1, 2-0) travel to Tarleton State (0-3, 0-2) Saturday, October 3 with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. The Lions are 12-11 all-time against the Texans including three straight wins under head Coach
Colby Carthel. The Lions won 22-20 in 2013 and took both games in 2014, 53-25 and 56-49. On the road, the Texans hold a narrow 6-5 lead in the all-time series. The Texans will enter the contest after a 63-46 loss on the road to Midwestern State.
