A&M Commerce volleyball picked up their first win of the year at the 2015 Hilton Garden Inn Classic in Denton, Texas.

Turning Point


The Lions won the first two sets and then dropped the next two. The turning point in the match came late in the fifth set tied 13-13. The Bison had an attack error by Molly Howard giving the Lions a 14-13 lead. Following the error, Courtney Tate set up the winning kill by Tayrn Driver to win the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
The Lions biggest lead was six points and biggest deficit was two points. Courtney Tate had all 15 assists in the first set.
Set 2
The Lions fell behind 10-8 early before making a five-point run to shift the momentum Harding recorded 14 kills but had ten errors that came back to hurt them in a close 25-23 defeat. The Lions finished the set with 10 kills and six errors.
Set 3
Cutting their errors in half, the Bison won the third set 25-16, while the Lions had seven errors and a hitting percentage of .059.
Set 4
Set four was a cat and mouse game up until the score was 16-16 when the Bison began to pull away to an ultimate 25-19 win. The Lions never led again in this set after 12-11.
Set 5
After dropping two games, the Lions battled back with their highest hitting percentage of the match at .304 which was good enough to lift them over Harding in a 15-13 set.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Marks the first time we have beat Harding since 2003.

Coach's Thoughts
"We played a great team today in a tightly contested match that could have gone to either team"  head coach Craig Case said. "We started off very strong, however Harding was very disciplined. We are very excited to get the win over a really good opponent. This is the first game in my six years here where I felt that we won the match due to our depth. Summer Alford and Jayrn Wacker came in and gave us some great production off of the bench."
