COMMERCE – The Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer Lions are the co-champions of the Lone Star Conference after a series of events throughout the league on Sunday. The Lions lost their regular season finale, 1-0, to Angelo State University on Sunday.
A&M-Commerce wraps up the regular season with an overall record of 13-5-0 and 9-3-0 in LSC play. The Lions share the LSC regular season championship with West Texas A&M, who lost in overtime Sunday.
The Lions will now host the Lone Star Conference Championships on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. A&M-Commerce wins a tiebreaker over WT on goal differential for the top seed and hosting rights for the tournament. A&M-Commerce has a +15 conference goal difference, while WT's is at +9.
The conference championship is the sixth all-time for the soccer program (four regular season and two tournament) and the 91st in A&M-Commerce history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams had runs of possession in a back-and-forth first half. Grasser put a shot narrowly high in the 18th minute.
The Rambelles opened the scoring in the 30th minute, when a header by Elizabeth Rodriguez caromed off of the crossbar. The ball bounced to Demi Tsambasis, who headed it in for a 1-0 ASU lead.
Vicky Back's low shot in the 34th minute was saved and the game went to halftime with the guests leading 1-0.
ASU had seven shots to the Lions' three in the opening stanza, while A&M-Commerce had four corner kicks to the Rambelles' three.
In the second half, the Lions limited ASU to one shot on goal, but Rambelle goalkeeper Sammy Cude turned the Lions away. Grasser had two shots on goal saved in the first five minutes of the half.
Back had two shots go high and wide and a shot from the left side by Grasser was punched away in the 79th minute, keeping the Lions off the board.
