PORTALES, N.M. – The Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team jumped out to an early lead but ultimately fell to Eastern New Mexico 3-1 in Lone Star Conference action at Greyhound Arena on Friday night.
Set scores were 25-12, 18-25, 20-25, 27-29. The Lions see a five-match winning streak snapped, falling to 10-7 overall and 4-3 in the LSC. A&M-Commerce travels to Western New Mexico for a 7 p.m. MDT in Silver City, N.M., on Saturday.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Lions started off on fire, hitting .455 with no errors in the opening set before cooling off. A&M-Commerce ended the match with a hitting percentage of .095.

Rylie Fuentes had 11 assists.

Ashley Mireles had 14 digs to lead the Lions.

HOW IT HAPPENED
ENMU scored the first three points of the match and led 5-1, but the Lions responded with a fury. After trailing 8-4, A&M-Commerce scored 11 of the next 12 points to swing the lead to 15-9 in the Lions' favor with two kills by
Layne Little in the run. A&M-Commerce cruised to the set win with 10 kills and no errors on 22 swings in the set.
The Lions started the second set with continued momentum, thanks to a pair of blocks and a kill by Reyes. A&M-Commerce was up 7-3 before the Greyhounds scored four straight to tie the set. The hosts then went on a 10-3 run punctuated by an ace to make it 17-10. The Lions were able to close the gap to four points but could not make up the deficit. A&M-Commerce hit .043 in the set
Errors plagued A&M-Commerce as the third set progressed. The set was tied at 16-all before ENMU scored nine of the final 13 points. Four of those points were on A&M-Commerce errors, as the Lions hit minus-.030 in the set.
The fourth set featured 13 ties and six lead changes, as neither team led by more than three points at any point in the frame. From a 23-all tie, the Lions fought off match point twice and had a chance at set point before a service error sparked the Greyhounds' final run, as the host scored the final three points to win the match.
