Lions sweep ENMU on Senior Day to move into third in LSC standings

COMMERCE – The Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team celebrated its Senior Day on Saturday afternoon with a sweep of Eastern New Mexico University in the Field House.

The Lions complete their home schedule with 10 wins in the Field House, the most since 2002. Overall, the Lions are now 18-11 with a 12-6 record in the Lone Star Conference, which places them in third place in the league standings.

The Lions have also won five straight conference matches for the first time since 2002.

"I'm really happy with this win and our ability to win tonight on Senior Night. I'm really proud of the seniors and what they've been able to help this team accomplish this year," said A&M-Commerce head volleyball coach Craig Case. "From our 8-1 LSC home record to our first regional ranking they have provided strong leadership this year. Today was a reflection of that leadership."

"ENMU is a high quality team. Both teams came into today's match riding hot streaks and playing good volleyball. I'm really pleased we were able to beat them. This win continues to show the strides our program is making. I've always been a fan of Coach Poyer and the job he does with his players. On top of that he has some of the best players in the league. I have nothing but the highest respect for Coach, his players, and their program. That make this is a great win for us."

A&M-Commerce completes the regular season next weekend with trips to UT Permian Basin on Friday and West Texas A&M on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The visiting Greyhounds used a mid-set run to get out to a 20-15 lead before the Lions charged back. An ENMU service error sparked a run that saw the Lions score 10 of the next 12 points. Jaslyn Wacker was in on four blocks during the fantastic surge, including a stonewall on set point.

The Lions hit .267 in the set including three error-free kills by Nelson. Jaslyn Wacker had five blocks in the set, while the team totaled six.

A&M-Commerce kept the momentum from the comeback into the second set, pulling away in the latter stages to win the set by six.
