San Francisco, Calif. – A&M-Commerce took the first game against the Urban Knights with a win 8-1 and followed up with a second win, 17-9, to improve to 10-1 on the season.

Richie Bruister said. "Selena did a great job pitching in both games, and the offence did its job by keeping the pressure on and scoring big."
Game 1: A&M-Commerce, 8, Academy of Art, 1Turning PointIn the top of the seventh inning he Lions scored five runs. There were five hits in the big inning for the A&M-Commerce offense.
Inside the Box ScoreSelena Rima pitched all seven innings; she faced 27 batters and only allowed five hits. Rima earned the win on the mound and is now 4-0 on the season.
Cherie Jackson hit her team-leading fifth home run of the season.
Ciera Nunez went 2-for-3 and had two runs in game one.
Summary1st InningBaylea Higgs scored to putting the first points on the board for the Lions after hitting a single to the left side. Higgs stole second and advanced to third on
Magen Lynch's infield single. Higgs came around to score when Jackson grounded out to short.
2nd InningThe Lions manufactured a run when Nunez reached on a single, stole second and crossed the plate on a
Tyler Oppenheim single to right to give the Lions a 2-1 lead.
6th InningJackson hit a solo home run to left center extending the Lion lead out to 3-1.
7th InningMagen Lynch led off the inning with a walk, and after Jackson was intentionally walked
Danielle Guerra came in as a pinch runner, Colwell plated Lynch with a sacrifice fly to left and Dobson drove home Guerra with a single. Cherry followed single through the left side and Nunez followed with a single. Dobson and Cherry scored when Oppenheim reached on an error, and Nunez scored the final run of the inning when Higgs reached on an infield single.
Game 2: A&M-Commerce 17, Academy of Art 9Turning PointIn the fourth inning, the Lions erupted for seven runs.
Luci Ponce and Higgs each had two-RBI singles in the inning. After the inning the team had a four run lead on the Urban Knights, 11-7. The Lions maintained the lead reaching a final score of 17-9.
Inside the Box Score…Anna Hitt pitched four and two thirds innings, but Rima came on for the final two and a third innings to earn her second win of the day. Rima allowed just three hits and recorded four strikeouts during her second stint of the day.
Jackson broke the Lone-Star Conference record for walks in a game with six.
Luci Ponce went 5-for-6, scored three runs and had a whopping four RBI.
Summary1st InningHiggs singled up the middle and came around to score on a Lynch double to open the scoring.
2nd InningNunez, Oppenheim and Lynch scored in a three-run inning that saw the Lions take a 4-1 lead after two. Ponce had a big RBI double in the inning.
4th InningThe Lions went through the entire lineup at the plate scored seven runs almost solidifying the win for the Lions in just the fourth inning. Higgs had a two-RBI infield single to short and Ponce plated two runner with a single to right to spark the huge inning for the Lion offense. The Lions led 11-3 after the top of the inning.
6th InningAfter four runs in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the fifth by Academy of Art that cut the Lion lead down to 11-7, Higgs, Ponce, Colwell and Jackson scored racking up four more runs taking the lead out to 15-9 over the Urban Knights.
Johnna Sturm's two-out, two-run single to left was the big hit in the frame for the Lions.
7th InningThe Lions put a cherry on top of their 15 runs by adding two more after Jackson and Ponce scored on an
Ellysse Boughey two-RBI single. Rima retired the Urban Knights in order in the seventh preserving the win.
What's Next…The Lions are on a 7-game winning streak and head into a doubleheader against Dominican University on Saturday, February 21.
