Commerce, Texas – After the Lions defeated the Lady Buffs in Game one on Saturday to shatter West Texas' undefeated 30 game winning streak the Lions end series going 1-3.
The Lions jumped out with the first lead in three of the four games, keeping the Lady Buff's on their toes. Each game was hard fought on either side keeping tensions high. A&M-Commerce has now beat West Texas in both years of play, quite an accomplishment for a startup program.

Richie Bruister said, "I am excited to have done something no one else has done… beat West Texas. We had an opportunity to win two more games but made some key mistakes that cost us the game. Anytime you can beat someone that is 30-0 you have to consider it a good weekend."
Game 1: A&M-Commerce 6, No. 1 West Texas A&M 8Turning PointWith A&M-Commerce leading 6-5 after six innings, the Lady Buffs scored three runs on one hit and one Lion error in the fame to pick up the 8-6 come-from-behind win.
Inside the Box ScoreCiera Nunez led the Lions with two doubles in three plate appearances. She also drove in one run and scored a run.
Kylene Hatton went 2-for-4 including a double. She also drove in two runs.
Selena Rima pitched five innings and struck out two Lady Buffs.
Summary1st InningHatton scored on
Haley Colwell's ground out to second base. Hatton reached when she doubled to center.
2nd InningMonica Cherry was hit by pitch, stole second, advanced to third on a Lady Buff error and scored on a another error to give the Lions a 2-0 lead after two innings.
4th InningThe Lady Buffs got on the scoreboard when a run crossed after a batter was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
5th inningWest Texas tied the game at three with two runs on three hits in the top of the frame, but the Lions answered with three runs to take a 6-3 lead.
Monica Cherry drove in a run with a bunt single, and Nunez doubled home Cherry and
Magen Lynch.
6th inningWT clawed back into the game with two runs in the inning cutting the lead down to 6-5.
7th inningThe Lady Buffs completed the comeback with a three-run seventh inning on three hits highlighted by an RBI double.
Game 2: A&M-Commerce 4, No. 1 West Texas A&M 11Turning PointIn the second inning the Lady Buffs took the lead after a three run homer. WT picked up speed after another homer in the second that highlighted a six run inning. The surge gave the Lady Buffs an 8-4 lead after two.
Inside the Box ScoreJackson went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Johnna Sturm drove in two runs to lead the Lions.
Colwell went 2-for-4 and scored a run.
Summary1st InningAfter WT struck first with two runs to open the game, the Lions started off strong with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Colwell singled, Jackson doubled and brought Colwell across the plate. Sturm followed with a two-run homer. Lynch singled after a perfect bunt right out of reach of the Lady Buffs catcher to restart the inning. Two batters later,
Tyler Oppenheim singled to right to score Lynch.
2nd InningWT's six run second inning saw the Lady Buffs take an 8-4 lead after two. West Texas went on to add a run in the third, fourth and sixth earning the 11-4 win and the series win.
What's Next?The Lions head to Denton, Texas Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26 to play an LSC series against Texas Woman's. TWU has a record of 20-10 and are on a two-game winning streak.
