Lions Win Game Two in an Extra Inning over Rambelles

Commerce, TX- Angelo State came out strong with a win in game one, shutting out the Lions, but A&M-Commerce answered with a hard fought game taking the second in the eighth inning to split the doubleheader with the Rambelles Friday night in a Lone Star Conference match up at the John Cain Family Softball Field.
 
Game 1: A&M-Commerce 0, Angelo State 1
Turning Point
The Rambelles took the lead 1-0 in the top of the sixth after five scoreless innings. Angelo State's Ambra Hill scored on a two-out single up the middle by Brooke Mangold.
 
Inside the Box Score
Haley Colwell went 1-for-2 at the plate.
 
Magen Lynch also went 1-for-2 for the Lions.
 
Selena Rima pitched all seven innings; she faced 31 batters, had seven strikeouts and only allowed four hits despite being saddled with the loss. 
 
Brandy Marlett earned the win for ASU after tossing all seven innings. She allowed just two hits in the shut out performance.

Angelo State had one run and two hits taking the first and only lead of the game. 
 
Game 2: A&M-Commerce 2, Angelo State 1
Turning Point
The Lions pulled out the win in the bottom of the eighth inning when Kylene Hatton doubled down the right field line and brought in Baylea Higgs who had walked.
 
Inside the Box Score
Kylene Hatton led the Lions at the plate going 2-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI.
 
Anna Hitt got her first win as a Lion, she pitched three and a third innings only allowed one hit and had four strikeouts.
 
Katie Dean pitched four innings in the circle earning the no decision; she faced 18 batters and only allowed two hits while recording three strikeouts.

The Rambelles took the lead by one run with a home run in the top of the inning.
 
6th Inning
Magen Lynch walked and Johnna Stum drove her in with a two-out single down the left field line.
 
8th Inning
The Lions took the win with the final run after Higgs walked and Hatton drove her in on the game-winning double.
 
What's Next
Lions continue the series vs. Angelo State Saturday, April 16 at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Senior recognition will be held in between the games.
