Commerce, TX – The Lions came back swinging from a spilt in the first two games of the series against the Tarleton State with two wins, a 2-1 decision following a walk off homer and the other with a 13-0 run rule victory over the TexAnns.
Game 1: A&M-Commerce 2, Tarleton 1Turning PointKylene Hatton hit a walk off home run on the first pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning to break the knotted up score and win the game.
Inside the Box ScoreKatie Dean matched her career record of strikeouts with eight; she had sixteen in the series.
Hatton went 2-for-4 scoring two runs and an RBI.
Haley Colwell went 2-for-3 and got an RBI.
Summary3rd InningThe TexAnn's took the first lead of the game with one run, but the Lions came back fighting when Hatton singled and Colwell drove her in with another single.
7th InningThe Lions put an end the to game with Hatton's walk-off homer for their second win of the series.
Game 2: A&M-Commerce 13, Tarleton 0Turning PointThe Lions started off with hot bats scoring three runs in the first to set the tone in the 13-0 win.
Inside the Box ScoreLuci Ponce went 2-for-4, scored a run and got three RBI.
Hatton went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI.
The Lions scored their 13 runs on six hits and eight walks.
Selena Rima had a shutout in the circle for the Lions only allowing three hits and had four strikeouts.
Summary1st InningPonce singled up the middle driving in Higgs and Nunez who both had walked. The third run came after a series of walks leaving Hatton to trot across the plate.
3rd InningPonce scored first in the third inning on a fielder's choice.
Monica Cherry followed with a two-run double brining in Colwell and Higgs.
