STEPHENVILLE – The Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team hit a slight speed bump Saturday, losing matches to Colorado Christian and Colorado Mesa at the Tarleton Invitational.
The Lions fall to 4-4 on the season and will play a road match at Dallas Baptist on Monday night.
COLORADO CHRISTIAN 3, TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE 1 (13-25, 21-25, 25-16, 20-25)
- Hitting woes struck the Lions, who hit for a .123 percentage in the match.

Taryn Driver had 10 kills with a .200 hitting percentage.

Rylie Fuentes had a double-double with 20 assists and 11 digs.

Ashley Mireles tied Fuentes for the team lead with 11 digs.
The Lions scuffled in the first set of the day, hitting minus-.024, while Fuentes earned seven of her digs in the frame. The hitting improved in the second set to a .061 with Driver throwing down three kills.
In the third set, the Lions hit .357 with only two errors while also stonewalling the Cougars with five blocks including three assists from
Jaryn Wacker. CCU's Mollie Bailey threw down six kills in the final set, offsetting
Jaslyn Wacker's four kills and nine Mireles digs.
COLORADO MESA 3, TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE 1 (20-25, 25-23, 21-25, 12-25)
- Driver's 11 kills once again led the Lions. The senior has had double digit kills in every match this season.
- Mireles dug out 24 balls and Fuentes had another double-double with 17 assists and 12 digs.
The Lions and Mavericks were in a see-saw battle in the first set until Mesa went up by five points and kept A&M-Commerce at arm's length. Driver had three kills and
Sydney Reyes put down kills on her only two swings.
A&M-Commerce raced out to an 11-3 lead in the second set and the Lions were able to hold off the Mavericks' late charge.
Neka Nelson, Reyes and Driver each had three kills in the set and Mireles had nine digs in the frame.
Driver threw down four errorless kills in the third set, but a pair of late three-point surges by CMU thwarted the Lions' chances at a set victory. The Lions hit minus-.259 in the final set as CMU held on for the win.
