COMMERCE – The 15th-ranked Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer team earned its second consecutive shutout Friday night, opening Lone Star Conference play with a 2-0 win over Eastern New Mexico.
The Lions move to 4-2-0 overall with a 1-0-0 record and 3 points in the LSC standings. ENMU is 1-5-1 and 0-0-1 in the league with no points.
A&M-Commerce hosts West Texas A&M at 1 p.m. Sunday to wrap up a four-match homestand.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Even with the disparity in shots taken, it took until the 32nd minute for the Lions to find the opening goal. ENMU goalkeeper Marissa Torres made five saves before
Anitra Wright hit a hot shot from the left side to open the scoring. The goal was Wright's second goal of the season.
In the 41st minute,
Savannah Grasser settled a long ball after the Greyhound goalie punched the ball out and smashed a rocket high into the net for her third goal of the season.
After the 2-0 halftime lead, the Lions continued to push for insurance goals, but were unable to find the net. A shot by
Vicky Back thundered off of the right post in the 88th minute and narrowly missed bouncing into the goal.
