SAN ANGELO– The Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team fell in straight sets to No. 22 Angelo State on Friday. The set scores were 19-25, 19-25 and 17-25. It broke an eight-game winning streak for the Lions.
The loss brings the Lions to 14-8 on the season and 9-3 in the Lone Star Conference. The Rambelles improve to 14-6 and 6-5 in conference play. The teams split the season series, with the home team winning each match.
The Lions return to the court on Saturday to face No. 13 Tarleton State. The match will be played at 2 p.m. at the Wisdom Gym in Stephenville.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams had early runs in the first set. ASU scored the first three points before the Lions answered back with four of their own. The Rambelles then scored five of the next six points to take a lead. The Lions battled to within one point at the midway mark, trailing 13-12.
ASU pushed its lead to 21-15 late in the set before the Lions rallied to score four points in a row to trail 19-21. ASU scored the final four points of the set and took the first set 25-19.
The teams traded the first eight points of the second set before ASU went on a three-point run to take an early lead in the second set. The Lions battled back to tie the set at 10-all, with two kills from Chapron. ASU countered with three points in a row of their own. The teams traded points from there, as the Lions could not get to closer than three points down. The Rambelles scored the final three points of the set to win 25-19.
The Lions started the third set well. They scored four points in a row to take an early 6-4 lead. The Rambelles then answered, scoring five of the next six points to take the lead. Midway through the set, ASU led 13-11.
Angelo slowly built its lead to four points before the Lions cut the lead down to just two points. However, The Rambelles piled on late in the set, winning six of the final seven points to win the third set 25-17.
