CANYON– The Texas A&M University-Commerce men's basketball team begins its NCAA Division II South Central regional appearance with a matchup against fourth-seeded Fort Lewis on Saturday.

The Lions are coming off of a loss in the second round of the Lone Star Conference postseason tournament. A&M-Commerce defeated Angelo State in the first round before falling to eventual tournament-champion and regional host West Texas A&M.
The Lions drew the fifth seed in the regional tournament and will face Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular season champion Fort Lewis. The Skyhawks went 24-6 in the regular season, including an 18-4 conference record and a 16-1 record on their home floor. They lost in the RMAC Tournament final to Regis.
FLC is one of the best free throw shooting teams in the nation and got to the charity stripe at a high volume. They rank fourth in the nation in free throw attempts and second in free throw makes. They got to the free throw line more than 800 times during the season. The Skyhawks are also highly ranked in three-point defense, holding opponents to 32 percent shooting from behind the arc. They are also one of the best scoring teams in the country, ranking 19th with an average of 86.1 points per game.
Head coach
Jaret von Rosenberg expressed confidence his team will be up for the challenge against the Skyhawks. He knows it will take a complete effort from his team to be able to win.
"It will take a full team effort for 40 minutes," he said. "We have to be locked in."
