Lion Soccer and Rembelles play to a 2-2 tie

COMMERCE – Hosting the Angelo State Rembelles, who came into Saturday in third place in the Lone Star Conference, the Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer team played the Rembelles to a 2-2 tie at the Lion Soccer Field. Leslie Campuzano and Karalie Morrison scored for the Lions.

Avery McNeme opened up the scoring for the Rembelles in the 20th minute, scoring off her right foot. McNeme had four shots in the match.

The Lions answered right back with a goal less than two minutes later. Leslie Campuzano's (Garland – Lakeview Centennial) corner kick deflected off the back post and went into the net for an Olympic goal.

Angelo State outshot A&M-Commerce 8-4 in the first half. Jen Peters (Allen) had two saves in the first half, while the Rambelles' Kira Miller saw only shot on goal, which ended up in the back of the net off Campuzano's foot.

McNeme gave the Rambelles a 2-1 lead in the 59th minute. Both of her goals on Saturday were unassisted.

The Lions almost tied the match in the 18th minute on a shot by McKenna Keeley (Frisco – Memorial), but it was saved by Miller, who had two saves on the afternoon.

With just under 10 minutes left in the match, Karalie Morrison (North Richland Hills – Colleyville Heritage) tied the match at two. Mindy Shoffit (Wichita Falls – Rider) threw in the ball on the other side of the field, which was kicked into the offensive half of the field by Cora Welch (Plano Senior). Welch's pass landed perfectly for Morrison, who kicked it past Miller.

The two teams combined for a shot each in the two overtime periods, neither was on goal. Angelo State outshot A&M-Commerce 17-9 in the match. Peters made four saves.

Peters, Shoffit, Keeley, and Rylie Robertson (Rockwall) played all 110 minutes for the Lions. Morrison led the team with four shots, Welch had two.
