INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Three different Lions scored their first goal of the season. Skylar Sorrell (Monroe, La.), Melissa Storey (Tyne and Wear, England), and Lauren Shaw (Livingston – The Covenant School) all netted equalizers.
- Leslie Campuzano (Garland – Lakeview Centennial) had two assists, and Cora Welch (Plano Senior) had one.
- The Lions were outshot for the first time this season, as the Lady Buffs launched 23 shots to A&M-Commerce's 13.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Buffs were the aggressors early, as the Lions dodged two bullets in the first 20 minutes. WT's Reagan Matacale missed a penalty kick high in the 18th minute, and Hallie McCarroll (Frisco - Centennial) cleared a shot off the line seconds later.

The Lady Buffs got on the board in the 22nd minute, when Maliyah Mendoza scored on an assist from Asha James.

Sorrell tied the game in the 25th minute, sneaking a goal over the line on great play from the back. Campuzano carried the ball up the left wing and found Welch in the box. She cut it against the grain to Sorrell, who put the Lions on the board. WT scored four and a half minutes later and would take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

The Lions quickly evened the game up in the second half, as the home side earned a corner kick a minute into the period. Campuzano's perfect corner found an unmarked Storey, who headed home the second equalizer.

West Texas went ahead for a third time in the 65th on Calista Cordero's goal, but Shaw launched a shot from 40 yards out in the 72nd. WT keeper Reagan Heelan got a finger on the high floater, but not enough to stop a goal that made it a 3-3 game.

WT put a shot off the frame of the goal in the 78th, and a Welch shot was saved in the 88th, sending the match to overtime.

The guests took three shots quickly in the early portions of the overtime, and Cordero was able to put a goal inside the right post in the 98th minute to give WT the win.
