Lion Volleyball falls to New Orleans in four

THIBODAUX– The Texas A&M University-Commerce Volleyball team traveled to New Orleans on Thursday evening. The Lions took the Privateers to four sets with a 25-15 win in the second. The Lions fell 3-1 with set scores of 25-18 in the first, 25-22 in the third, and 25-23 for the final set against the Privateers.
 
S1 | Winning the first point of the match, the Lions took the lead early in the first set, 5-3. The Privateers answered with a 6-3 run to take the lead 9-7. Both teams continued going back-and-forth until the Privateers went on a 5-2 run for the 25-18 set win.
 
S2 | The Lions kicked things off taking the first five points of the set. The Privateers stayed no more than five points down until the Lions went on a 9-3 run for set point and securing the 25-15 set win over the Privateers on an attacking error.
 
S3 | The Privateers took the early lead in the third set, 5-3. The Lions answered by tying the set before taking the lead, 17-15. A 7-2 run put the Privateers up 22-19 with the Lions picking up three more points before the Privateers won the set 25-22.
 
S4 | The Lions took the first two points of the fourth set and held the lead until the Privateers chipped away to take the lead from the Lions for the first time, 17-16. The Lions tied the score two more times before a kill by Sophia Ewalefo bagged the match win for the Privateers, 25-23.

Yasmin Figueiredo (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) recorded five blocks, 11 kills, and a hitting percentage of .320. Celeste Vela (Guadalajara, Mexico) picked up 41 assists while Ashley Pennington (Frisco – Liberty) led the way with 17 digs. Millie Allgood (Sherwood, Ark.) also recorded 12 digs for the Lions.
